The Compass GCSE Maths Accelerator costs £179 for a block of four live 90-minute small-group sessions. Payments are one-off by default. Parents may separately choose optional automatic four-lesson renewal. Outstanding sessions roll forward across planned Christmas, Easter and summer closures.
1. About us
These terms apply to services provided by Compass Academy Ltd (“Compass Academy”, “we”, “us” or “our”), a company registered in England and Wales under company number 15988163.
Contact: info@compass-academy.co.uk
Registered office: Compass Academy Ltd, 124 City Road, London, England, EC1V 2NX
2. About these terms
These terms govern use of our website, free diagnostic assessments and education services. If you purchase a programme, your booking confirmation and any programme information supplied before enrolment also form part of the agreement. If there is a conflict, the more specific written booking confirmation will take priority for that service.
Nothing in these terms affects legal rights that cannot lawfully be excluded, including rights under UK consumer law.
3. Website information and enquiries
Website content is provided for general information and may change. Sending an enquiry or completing a diagnostic does not guarantee a place, create a tutoring contract or oblige either party to proceed. We may need to speak with a parent or guardian before recommending or accepting a student onto a programme.
4. Free diagnostic assessments
The diagnostic is intended to provide an initial educational picture based on the information and work available at the time. It is not a formal examination result, predicted grade, professional psychological assessment or guarantee of future attainment. The student should complete it independently and honestly so that any feedback is useful.
5. Enrolment and the contract
A contract for paid services is formed only when we confirm the student’s place and provide written booking confirmation. The parent or guardian making the booking confirms that they are at least 18, are authorised to arrange the student’s tuition and will provide accurate information relevant to safe and effective delivery.
6. Fees and payment
The Compass GCSE Maths Accelerator costs £179 per four-lesson block, paid in advance. Each block covers four live 90-minute small-group sessions. This is not a calendar-based monthly subscription. The standard payment is a one-off payment and does not renew automatically.
Where the option is available, a parent may separately activate automatic four-lesson renewal through the secure parent dashboard. This requires a clear opt-in and authorises Stripe to retain the payment method securely for future off-session payments. When one paid lesson remains, we will give notice; after the fourth used lesson, one £179 payment is attempted and four new lesson credits are added only after payment succeeds. Compass Academy does not receive or store complete card details.
We will email at least seven calendar days before an automatic renewal charge, confirming the amount and expected timing. A charge is triggered by confirmed lesson use, not merely by a calendar date. Planned Christmas, Easter and summer closures do not consume lesson credits, so they do not themselves trigger a renewal payment.
Automatic renewal can be switched off through the parent dashboard or by emailing us at any time before the next charge. Switching it off stops future renewal payments but does not cancel or refund a block already purchased. A parent who does not activate automatic renewal can purchase another block manually when required.
If a student joins after a teaching cycle has begun, we will confirm either an adjusted first payment or a later programme start date before taking payment. Fees must be paid by the due date shown in the booking confirmation or invoice.
If the next four-lesson block is not purchased, or an automatic payment fails, we will notify the parent and allow seven calendar days for payment to be brought up to date. The student’s existing group place is held during that period. If payment remains outstanding after seven days, access is paused automatically and the group place is released. A later payment can reactivate enrolment only where suitable capacity remains. No new lesson credit is added until payment succeeds. This does not remove responsibility for charges already due.
7. Online sessions and technology
Student and tutor cameras are optional. A tutor may invite camera use where it supports communication, but participation is not conditional on keeping a camera on. Audio, chat, screen-sharing and shared working tools may be used instead.
No participant may photograph, record or distribute a session, screen or student image without Compass Academy's prior written approval and any legally required consent. Joining links must be kept private and tuition communication must remain on approved channels.
Sessions are delivered online. The parent or guardian is responsible for providing a suitable device, reliable internet connection, appropriate learning environment and any materials we reasonably specify. Students should join on time using their own name and keep login details private.
Where we provide a student dashboard, the verified parent must first approve the student’s own email address. The student can then sign in independently using a code sent to that approved address, while the account remains linked to the parent. The student dashboard is for the enrolled student only and is limited to learning information such as lesson dates, joining links, topics and homework. Parents remain responsible for controlling access and can disable student access through the parent dashboard.
We are not responsible for disruption caused by a student’s equipment, connection or third-party service outside our reasonable control, and this will normally be treated as a missed session. Where a substantial problem is caused by us, we will rearrange the affected teaching or provide an appropriate credit or proportionate refund if a suitable replacement cannot reasonably be offered.
8. Attendance, participation and behaviour
Progress depends on regular attendance, active participation and completion of assigned practice. Students must communicate respectfully, avoid disrupting others and follow reasonable instructions intended to keep the group safe and productive.
If behaviour creates a safeguarding risk or seriously disrupts learning, we may remove the student from a session and contact the parent or guardian. Repeated or serious concerns may result in suspension or termination after fair consideration of the circumstances.
9. Missed sessions and timetable changes
Please tell us as early as possible if a student cannot attend. Small-group sessions continue when an individual student is absent. Because the student’s place and teaching capacity have been reserved, student absence does not create an entitlement to a refund, credit or individual replacement lesson. Where lesson resources are ordinarily made available, the absent student may still access them for personal study.
One lesson credit is used when a scheduled session is delivered, including where the individual student does not attend. A lesson credit is not used where Compass Academy cancels the session and does not provide a suitable replacement.
Lessons continue during the usual one-week school half-term breaks. We normally pause teaching for two weeks at Christmas, two weeks at Easter and four weeks during the summer holiday. The exact dates are confirmed in the planned teaching calendar and shared in advance.
A planned closure will not reduce the four live 90-minute sessions covered by a £179 payment. Christmas, Easter and summer breaks may extend the period in which those four sessions are delivered. Unused lesson credit remains available when teaching restarts.
If we cancel a session outside the planned calendar, we will normally rearrange it. If a suitable replacement cannot reasonably be provided, we will offer an appropriate account credit or proportionate refund.
We may occasionally need to change a tutor, session time or delivery arrangement. We will give as much notice as reasonably possible and provide a suitably qualified alternative where appropriate.
10. Your right to cancel
If you enter a service contract with us online or at a distance, you will normally have a legal right to cancel within 14 days beginning the day after the contract is entered into.
If you ask us to begin the service during that 14-day period and then cancel, we may charge a proportionate amount for services supplied up to cancellation. Where a service has been fully performed during the cancellation period following your express request and acknowledgement, the statutory cancellation right may be lost. To exercise a cancellation right, email info@compass-academy.co.uk with the parent’s name, student’s name and booking details.
After the statutory cancellation period, there is no minimum term and no calendar-based monthly renewal. Manual payments end after the purchased block. If automatic four-lesson renewal has been separately activated, the parent may switch it off at any time before the next charge. The student may continue attending any remaining sessions already covered by the most recent payment.
11. Refunds
Once a paid programme cycle has begun, payments already collected are non-refundable if the parent or student chooses to stop during that cycle. This does not apply where a refund is required by law or where Compass Academy is unable to provide paid services and cannot offer a suitable replacement.
Where a refund is due, we will make it using the original payment method unless agreed otherwise and within the timeframe required by law. Nothing in these terms affects the customer’s statutory rights.
12. Tutors and delivery
We may use suitably selected tutors or contractors to deliver parts of a service. Compass Academy remains responsible for the service we have agreed to provide. A place is not dependent on a particular tutor unless we expressly agree this in writing.
Our tutors may include qualified teachers and other carefully selected subject specialists. Not every tutor necessarily holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), and we will not describe a tutor as holding QTS unless that is accurate. Before direct teaching contact, every tutor must complete our required identity and suitability checks and hold an appropriate Enhanced DBS check.
13. Learning materials and intellectual property
Materials we create or license are for the enrolled student’s personal educational use. They must not be copied, uploaded, sold, shared publicly, recorded, distributed or used commercially without written permission. Students retain ownership of their own original work.
The September 2026 guided exam-paper offer applies to eligible students who enrol by 30 September 2026. Packs are released at appropriate points throughout the academic year while the student remains enrolled and may include question-by-question topic maps, teaching-video links and mark schemes. The offer is non-transferable, has no cash alternative and does not entitle a student who later leaves the programme to future packs that have not yet been released.
14. Results and educational responsibility
We will provide the service with reasonable care and skill. However, grades and progress depend on many factors, including attendance, effort, prior knowledge, school provision and independent practice. We do not guarantee a particular grade, examination result or rate of progress.
15. Liability
We do not exclude or limit liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or breach of statutory consumer rights. Subject to this, we are not responsible for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable when the contract was formed or for business losses arising from a consumer booking.
16. Ending services
Either party may end services in accordance with these terms, the booking confirmation and applicable consumer rights. Ending services also ends any future automatic renewal authority, but does not reverse a charge already properly taken for a block that remains available. We may end or suspend services for serious misconduct, safeguarding concerns, repeated non-payment or a material breach of these terms, normally after giving reasonable notice where circumstances allow. Any payment relating to future services that we do not provide will be handled fairly in light of the circumstances and applicable law. Charges properly incurred before the end date remain payable.
17. Privacy and safeguarding
We handle personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy and work with children in accordance with our Safeguarding Policy. Where we reasonably believe a child or another person may be at risk, we may share necessary information with an appropriate safeguarding lead, professional or authority.
18. Complaints
Please send concerns to info@compass-academy.co.uk. We will acknowledge the complaint, review the relevant information and aim to respond fairly within a reasonable period.
19. Changes
We may update website terms for future use. Changes will not retrospectively alter an existing paid contract unless required by law or agreed with you. We will give at least 30 days’ written notice of any increase to the four-lesson block fee or other material change affecting an ongoing service. Where automatic renewal is active, the notice will explain the new price and the date it would first apply so the parent can switch renewal off before being charged.
20. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you are a consumer living elsewhere in the UK, you retain any mandatory protections and rights to bring proceedings available where you live.
